We have expanded Yak Ridge vacation lodging to include a charming cottage in Cortez Park, a bayfront community located in the historic fishing village of Cortez, Florida.

Built in 1928, this spacious 1400 sqft cottage has classic old Florida charm, modern amenities, is only 400 feet from Sarasota Bay intercoastal at the foot of Cortez Bridge, and within walking distance of some of the best dining and best beaches in South Florida.  Tide Tables Restaurant and Marina are located within the community.

The cottage also includes use of a small boat slip in the Park, on Sarasota Bay, which accommodates a boat up to 16′.

Amenities:

  • Spacious eat-in kitchen with quality appliances all new in 2022 or 2023 – an electric range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, Wolf convection countertop oven, drip and French press coffee makers, toaster, Kitchen Aid mixer, food processor, French copper cookware, crab/lobster pot, dishware, glassware, and utensils. There is also a propane grill with a burner on the garden deck for grilling and outdoor cooking
  • Large living room with rattan furniture (sofa, chairs, and ottomans), wood floors, cypress shiplap, ceiling fan, reading lamp, TV (195 channels), and small library of books.
  • Large lanai with an entrance to the garden deck.

  • Two private bedroom suites, one on each wing of the cottage. (see floorplan in the photos below)
  • Suite I includes a four-poster king bed with two nightstands and a large dresser, wood floors, ceiling fan, Tiffany lighting, and walk-in closet. The en suite bathroom includes a tiled walk-in shower, two sinks, vintage clawfoot tub, Tiffany lighting, teak bench, fan with timer, a crystal chandelier, and stained-glass window.
  • Suite II includes a queen bed with nightstands and a large dresser, wood floors, ceiling fan, closet, and a private reading nook with a daybed. An adjacent bathroom boasts a large walk-in tiled shower.
  • Linens for beds, baths, kitchen, and the beach.
  • Laundry room / mudroom with stackable washer/dryer (new), and bench.
  • Covered porch with chairs.
  • Large private garden deck with furniture for dining and lounging, shaded by an ancient live oak and palm trees and an outdoor shower with changing room.
  • Carport parking for one car. No additional parking is available on the property nor in the Park.
  • Central AC and heat (new).
  • Access to private community fishing pier and waterfront gathering area with seating and tables.
  • Community boat ramp with limited access.

Cortez Park

The cottage is located within Cortez Park, a 55+ community. Primary guest must be at least 55 years of age and secondary guest a minimum of 45 years of age. The Park limits the number of guests to a maximum of four. Cortez Cottage is a smoke-free and pet-free property.  The Park requires a simple application which and must be completed by guests within 48 hours of their reservation. Guests who do not submit the application or are found to not meet the rental requirements based on their application will have their deposits refunded in full. Contact Julie directly for details.

Local Vacation Rental Assistance 

The cottage is professionally managed and cleaned by a vacation rental management company located near the Cottage.

No Smoking / No Pets / No Events

Neither pets nor smoking are permitted in the Cottage nor on the property at any time. Use of the Cottage is limited to the registered guests. No events are permitted on the property.

Air Service:

  • Air service is available through Sarasota / Bradenton Airport (13 miles/25 minutes), Tampa International Airport (53 miles/60 minutes), and Ft. Myers / Punta Gorda Airport (72 miles/75 minutes)

Terms, Conditions, and Cancellation Policy

Our Standard Terms and Conditions for Payments and Cancellations are as follows:

50% deposit payment due upon receipt to hold reservation. Your balance is due 60 days prior to check-in date.  Refunds for cancellations 60 or more days before your check-in date will be equal to the amount of your deposit less one night’s stay.  Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to check-in are not eligible for a refund.

Cortez Cottage will not be held responsible and will not issue a refund for any reservations that are cancelled, prevented, restricted or interfered with by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including without limitation, earthquake, fire, flood, Act of God, hurricane, storms, inclement weather, wars, civil or military disturbances, environmental hazards, or any other cause whatsoever beyond the reasonable control of Aspen Acres. Travel Insurance can be a solution to help mitigate the risk for some of these issues. We recommend you consider purchasing travel insurance to cover the cost of your reservation (and any other expenses associated with your travels) in the event you need to cancel or encounter unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from completing your reservation.
